What is Sales Management?

Sales management is a process that involves the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling of sales activities within an organisation. It is responsible for creating and implementing strategies and plans that will result in increased sales and market share.

The goal of sales management is to ensure that the company’s sales goals are met or exceeded, to they must be able to identify opportunities in the market, and even threats to their standing in the market, as well as develop effective plans to capitalize on the former and mitigate the latter. They must also be able to motivate and lead their sales teams to achieve desired results.

A successful sales management strategy depends on several factors, including the type of product or service being sold, the size and structure of the sales force, the market conditions, and the company’s overall business strategy. Sales managers must be able to analyse data and identify trends to make sound decisions about how to allocate resources and which products to advertise.
